About Coach Julie

Hello! I’m Julie Fairclough, founder of Bramhall Runners, Personal Fitness Trainer and Level 2 Endurance Running Coach for Stockport Harriers and Bramhall Runners.

Ten years ago work colleagues asked me to start running with them in our lunch hour. I hated the first time we went out! After a slow start I gradually worked up to running 5 miles and from there on, I was addicted to the feel good factor it gave me. I have ran 5ks, 10ks, half marathons and 2 marathons. I also enjoy yoga for relaxation, pilates and core stability exercises for my posture.

I have also taken part in duathlons and triathlons, I really enjoyed the different parts of the training and especially seeing the improvements in my swimming - from not being able to complete a length front crawl in the pool to open water swimming at Bala Lake (freezing)! and Boundary Park, Cheshire.

Last year I found out I had a genetic heart condition meaning I could no longer train hard or take part in races. This does not mean I have lost the passion for exercise, far from it! I love helping people feel the benefits of exercise and feel a sense of achievement when I motivate and inspire people to exercise more and gradually feel fitter, have more energy, have more confidence in themselves and most of all, enjoy the training sessions.

I have coached a mixed endurance group of runners at Stockport Harriers for 4 years now. I love to help athletes work hard and push themselves therefore realising their true potential. I have coached 2 athletes to qualify for the World Duathlon Championships in Gijon.

If you have a race or event you are hoping to run a certain time in I can work out a training programme specific to your running ability plus I am available for one to one training to help to coach you through various sessions and I can check your technique and running style is correct.

I enjoyed preparing and hearing how well everyone did following my plan in last years Manchester Marathon. Good luck to you all taking part in 2013.

My biggest achievement for 2012 was setting up Bramhall Runners to be affiliated with Run England. We now have over 90 members of all abilities. All welcome to come and join in – see our website www.bramhallrunners.co.uk for more information.

I am also very proud to have been nominated for, voted for and winning the Stockport Coach of the Year 2012 award. A massive achievement for myself which made me realise anything is possible if you have a vision.

I am at present studying to be an NLP (neuro linguistic programming) Practitioner which I am enjoying very much. The benefits of NLP are vast, especially with regard to sport and health and can include establishing achievable goals, increasing motivation, removal of limiting beliefs, reconnection with positive internal resources, modelling excellence in the field and applying to self for consistent positive results, reduce stress, increase energy, adoption of beliefs and attitudes to support health and wellbeing.

My Qualifications Include: UK Athletics Level 2 Coaching Certificate, YMCA Level 2 Gym Instructor, YMCA Advanced Level 3 Gym Instructor, YMCA Personal Trainer, YMCA Nutrition, YMCA Running, YMCA Training in Different Environments, BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Sport (Distinction), St Johns Ambulance First Aid at Work Certificate, NLP Diploma.
