Please note that the relay start is at 09:30 and is separate from the main field start. If you start with the main field your time will not be recorded.
The 4 leg relay team challenge gives you the opportunity to team up with 3 friends or colleagues to complete the marathon challenge and experience the big marathon atmosphere whilst completing the marathon as a team of 4 runners.
We have split the course into 4 sections of varying length allowing different abilities to take part:
Leg 1 - 9km
Leg 2 - 9km
Leg 3 - 13km
Leg 4 - 11km
The marathon relay team challenge is a great way to get active with friends, clubmates or work colleagues and raise money for your favourite charities.
It also gives you a great opportunity to promote your business, encourage activity and sport in the workplace whilst creating a true team spirit of training and running together to complete the 26.2 miles on our super flat PB chaser course! Your nominated company charity can also benefit from any fundraising activity that you undertake.
What team categories are there?
Team categories will be male, female, mixed and Corporate - for business teams, all members must work for the same business.
Each relay team should nominate a representative to act as the team captain.
Your team captain should sign up to complete the marathon relay challenge. The entry form will ultimately need the names and details of the other 3 runners but all communication will be sent to the team captain.
I am already running the marathon, can I be a member of the team too?
Yes, as long as you are wearing both bibs for the relay section. You will need to do the first section of the relay.
Can we have a team of three runners?
Can we run over the finish line together as a team?
No. The finish line is a busy part of the course and we cannot have full teams crossing together. There are many memorable points in the race village for photos if this is what you want.
How do we get to/from the relay changeover points?
Your relay number qualifies you for free travel using Metrolink to get you to and from the changeover points. You will be given maps to direct you to and from the Metrolink stops and the relay changeover points.
Where do I put my belongings/spare clothes?
Runners should give their spare clothes to the team member running the leg in front of them to take to the changeover point. The fourth runner can leave their bag in the kit tent to collect after they finish.
Is there a medal and where do I collect it?
There is a relay medal and this will be in the relay team t-shirt/medal bag at the finish line. This should be collected by the final team runner.
What are the entry fees and what do we get?
The entry fee for the 2018 ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon in Trafford 4 leg relay starts with special early bird offer of £120.
• race entry
• team name on race number
• race technical t-shirt for all team members
• finisher's medal for all team members
• Metrolink travel to and from changeover points.
Can we run for charity as a team?
Yes of course you can, and with there being a special trophy for the team that raises the most money for charity we are encouraging all teams to run for charity. As a business team this means that not only will you be actively encouraging health and fitness in the workplace but you will also be raising valuable funds for your chosen charity. You can either run for one of ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon's charity partners or choose a charity personal to you.
Entries open on 4th July.
If one person drops out can they be replaced before the event?
Yes, you can log into the team entry and swap the details before 28th February 2018.
When do we receive our race packs?
You will receive your race packs nearer to race day, we shall send these to each team captain to be distributed.
