Please note that the relay start is at 09:30 and is separate from the main field start. If you start with the main field your time will not be recorded.
The 2 Leg Relay gives you the opportunity to experience the big marathon atmosphere whilst completing the marathon as a team of 2 runners running roughly half the marathon distance each.
We have split the course into 2 sections:
Leg 1 - 18km Start line to Timperley Sports Club
Leg 2 - 24km Timperley Sports Club to the finish at Emirates Old Trafford
The 2 Leg Relay is a great way to get active with friends, clubmates or work colleagues and raise money for your favourite charities.
It also gives you a great opportunity to promote your business, encourage activity and sport in the workplace whilst creating a true team spirit of training and running together to complete the 26.2 miles on our super flat PB chaser course! Your nominated charity can also benefit from any fundraising activity that you undertake.
What team categories are there?
Team categories are: male, female, mixed and corporate - for corporate teams, all members must work for the same business.
Each relay team should nominate a representative to act as the team captain.
Your team captain should sign up to complete the marathon relay challenge. The entry form will ultimately need the names and details of the other runner but all communication will be sent to the team captain.
I am already running the marathon, can I be a member of the team too?
Yes, you can, but you will need 2 entries and you must wear the bibs for both the relay and the individual marathons. You would need to do the first section of the relay and start with the other relay runners at 09:30.
Can we run over the finish line together as a team?
No. The finish line is a busy part of the course and we cannot have teams crossing together. There are many memorable points in the race village for photos if this is what you want.
How do we get to/from the relay changeover points?
Your relay number qualifies you for free travel using Metrolink to get you to and from the changeover points. You will be given maps to direct you to and from the Metrolink stops and the relay changeover points.
Where do I put my belongings/spare clothes?
First leg runners should give their spare clothes to the team member running the second leg to take to the changeover point. The second runner can leave their bag in the kit tent to collect after they finish.
Is there a medal and where do I collect it?
There is a relay medal and this will be in the relay team t-shirt/medal bag at the finish line. This should be collected by the final team runner.
Entry fees and what do we get?
The entry fee for the 2018 ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon 2 leg relay will start with our special early bird offer of £90 per team.
• race entry
• team name on race number
• race technical t-shirt for both runners
• finisher's medal for both runners.
Can we run for charity as a team?
Yes of course you can, and with there being a special trophy for the team that raises the most money for charity we are encouraging all teams to run for charity. As a business team this means that not only will you be actively encouraging health and fitness in the workplace but you will also be raising valuable funds for your chosen charity. You can either run for one of ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon in Trafford's Charity Partners or choose your own charity personal to you.
Entries will open on 4th July. Check back here for more information.
If one person drops out can they be replaced before the event?
Yes, you can log into the team entry and swap the details until 28th February.
When do we receive our race packs?
You will receive your race packs nearer to race day, we shall send these to each team captain to be distributed.
Do you need more information?
