Runners from overseas can collect their race numbers on the morning of the race

 When do entries close?

We have extended the closing date and entries will close at midnight on the 31st March 2013

How much does it cost to enter?

We shall be offering an early bird discount price of £45 until 31st July 2012. After this time the entry fee will be increased to £49.50

Is there a race capacity for the Greater Manchester Marathon?

Yes, entries are limited to 10,000 runners.

Do I need a qualifying time for the Greater Manchester Marathon?

No, the Greater Manchester Marathon is open to all participants over the age of 18.

I am injured and/or cannot run the event. Can I get a refund, donate my entry or transfer my entry to someone else?

We appreciate that things can happen which mean you cannot take part in the marathon. If you cannot take part in this year's event don't dispair, because you can transfer your entry to next year's marathon, where we would be delighted to see you!  There is a £10 admin fee for transferring your place, and we must receive your request to defer and your admin fee at least 6 weeks prior to the event (by Sunday 17 March 2013)  - this is because by this time payments and purchases associated with your place will have been made by the organisers. If the £10 has not been received by this time your transfer will not go through.  To transfer your entry, please read the Greater Manchester Marathon withdrawal policy which details where to send payment and official notification of your deferra. Should you have any questions, please call our office on 0161 928 6795 where our staff will be delighted to help you.

After the 6-week cut off date, we cannot transfer your place but we can defer your place for free up to 1 week before the race. This gives you a guaranteed entry into the 2014 race but you will still have to pay the entry fee .  We do our best by allowing people to transfer their entry to the following year all the way up until 6 weeks prior to the event.  However, after this cut off date all the orders and payments associated wtih your entry have been processed, so that now everything relating to your entry is ready, delivered and /or paid for.

NB - the TRANSFER prior to 6 weeks before the race means that you do not have to pay a 2014 entry fee just the £10 admin fee. A DEFERRED entry is only a guaranteed place and you will have to pay your 2014 entry fee

Sale or transfer of your race entry / race number to another person is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification and / or banning of any individuals involved from future events. This is for reasons associated with insurance, your medical information, logistics and administration.  All entry fees are non-refundable.

Are headphones allowed to be worn during the race?
For reasons of safety and courtesy to your fellow runners we are not permitting headphones to be worn during the race. We have seen far too many cases of people obstructing others and not hearing requests or instructions due to them having headphones on.
